And Then There’s Grace
I had a bad night two nights ago. But I had a good, good morning this morning. I went to yoga, per usual on Monday mornings, then stopped over at the house of the mother of a dear friend. This woman has become like a second mom to me. She is so dear. We have weathered many a health crisis of her daughter’s and of her grandson’s together. Anyway, she’s one of the most godly women I know. And here’s how I describe godly: she deeply knows and loves Jesus, and you can tell she knows that He deeply knows and loves her too. You just feel like you’re with Jesus when you’re with this lady. Her life has not always been an easy one, and since I am going through a little something, I thought she might be able to offer me some wisdom, maybe pray for me. She made me a cup of tea, served some apple slices (she’s just so sweet, I wish you could all know her), listened attentively, and shared parts of her journey with me.
Her gentleness healed so much of the wounds that I felt I received two nights ago. She will call sin, sin, but what she called out over me was grace. She actually told me to stop trying so hard. (Funny, that’s the opposite of what Alex and Chris want to see me do…they think I’m not working nearly hard enough on this relationship.) She told me to “cease striving.” As in “Cease striving and know that I am God,” (Psalm 46:10 NASB). She told me to abide in the deep love that Christ has for me. She told me to focus on being kind, and nothing else. Then she held my hands and prayed for me and my situation.
She was Christ to me in those two hours. God loved me so much to send healing through this precious woman. She said words that my soul so desperately needed to hear. I drove home with the window rolled down, on a not fully spring morning, but just because it felt like the right thing to do at the time. I drove under the speed limit along windy back roads. I sang along softly with Sara Groves. And then I walked through my front door with new, simpler, doable, gentler marching orders.
Cease. Abide. Show kindness. I can do that. Christ in me can do that. Oh, thank You, Jesus. Sigh…
What people are saying about He Is Just That into You:
One of the greatest gifts we can give one another is honesty. Another is friendship. Another is a language to describe our daily life with God, in all its beauty and longing. In these stories, Elisabeth Corcoran gives her readers all three. Her warm, inviting storytelling lets us know that we are not alone, and that’s one of the most important things a story can do.

I wish everyone wrote the way Elisabeth Corcoran does! She has a gift for crafting stories that show her big and broken heart and her sharp mind—all the while making us laugh out loud. Her stories are the type that we wish were part of our everyday friendships and conversations. Her raw and touching honesty make us feel less alone in our struggles—and yet more loved by the One who walks with us in them.

LOVE IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I think my favorite thing about it is your sense of humor. It is so funny. Your book is a great combination of humor and spiritual/emotional depth.
My only suggestion is to add more stories because I didn’t want to stop reading.
